イルミネーションの季節 The Season of Holiday Lights

冬至に向かってだんだん暗い時間が増え、午前九時ころにようやくぼんやり明るくなったと思ったら、午後二時すぎにはもう薄暗くなり始め、午後三時半以降は真っ暗になります。
そんなわけで、いまはイルミネーションが大活躍の季節です（笑）。街中のデパートやショッピングモール、街路もきれいなライトの飾りでキラキラ。家の窓辺にキャンドルやランプを置いたり、灯りに癒される季節です。

As we get closer to the winter solstice, the dark hours grow longer. It’s barely light by nine in the morning, and by two in the afternoon it already starts to fade. After three thirty, it’s pretty much dark. No wonder this is the season when lights and illuminations take centre stage. The city streets and shopping malls sparkle, and many homes glow with candles and lamps by the window. It’s the time of year when warm light feels especially comforting.
