にほんごを学ぶ Learning Japanese

我が家では日常的に４ヶ国語が飛び交っています。私の母国語（日本語）、夫の母国語（ロシア語）、子供たちの母国語（英語）、そしてフィンランド語です。家庭内の共通言語は英語ですが、子供達が日本語に慣れ親しむように、私は日本語で話しかけるよう心がけています。実際にはやはり英語中心の生活ですが、、、。しかし、５歳の次女が日本の文化に関心を持ち始め、幼稚園で日本人のお友達ができたことがきっかけで、家庭内で日本語を使う機会が増えてきました。子供たちが何かに興味を持つことの大切さを改めて感じています。

In our home, four languages are spoken daily: Japanese, Russian, English, and Finnish, with English being the common tongue. I strive to speak in Japanese to our children to familiarise them with it, though we mainly live in an English-speaking environment. However, my 5-year-old daughter's growing interest in Japanese culture and making a Japanese friend at kindergarten have increased her use of Japanese at home. It has made me realise once again the importance of children developing an interest in something.
